We bring samples to site to compare in natural light, considering colour, texture, and size. For older properties, we often source reclaimed bricks from the same era. Mortar colour also affects appearance — we mix test batches to ensure perfect matches.
Walls under 1 meter (next to highways) or 2 meters elsewhere usually don't require planning permission, though Building Regs may apply for retaining walls. Boundaries, conservation areas, and listed buildings have additional rules. We advise based on your specific situation.
A typical single-storey extension might take 2-4 weeks for brickwork depending on size and complexity. Garden walls can range from a few days to a couple of weeks. We provide realistic timescales and update you on progress throughout.
These are traditional brick laying patterns. English bond alternates courses of stretchers and headers creating a strong structure. Flemish bond has headers and stretchers in the same course for a decorative appearance. We can work in various bonds to match existing work or your preference.
