Quotes & Pricing

Plastering costs vary depending on the size of the area, condition of the existing surfaces, and the type of finish required. As a rough guide, a standard single bedroom re-skim typically costs between £250–£400. We always provide a free, itemised quote before any work begins so you know exactly what to expect.

Never. All quotes are completely free and come with no obligation. For most jobs, we'll visit the site to assess the work and provide an accurate written quote within 24–48 hours.

For smaller residential jobs, payment is typically due on completion. For larger projects or phased work, we may request a stage payment schedule, which will be clearly outlined in your quote. We accept BACS bank transfer, cheque, and cash.

The Work & Process

Fresh plaster typically takes 2–3 days to dry enough for painting, though full drying time can be up to 4 weeks depending on the thickness of the coat, room temperature, and ventilation. We recommend a mist coat (diluted emulsion) as the first coat of paint to allow moisture to continue escaping. Painting over wet plaster can cause peeling and cracking.

Plastering does produce dust and splatter during the application process, but we take every precaution to protect your home. We lay dust sheets throughout, mask skirting boards and other fixtures, and carry out a thorough clean-up on completion. Neighbours and hallways are always considered when moving materials.

Ideally, yes – clearing the room before we arrive helps us start work immediately and avoids any risk of damage to your belongings. If you need help moving furniture, just let us know in advance and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Skimming refers to applying a thin (2–3mm) finishing coat of plaster over an existing surface to create a smooth, flat result. It's used when the underlying surface is sound but the finish is rough, cracked, or tired. Full replastering involves applying a base coat (backing coat or float coat) as well as a finish coat, and is necessary when walls have been stripped back, have significant damage, or are being plastered from scratch.
